Emily Adams Chappell, 91, of Patterson, MO, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born in Blodgett, MO, on October 16, 1928, to Douglas and Minnie Alice (Frazier) Reid. Emily was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She grew up in the Portageville and Bernie areas and attended school there. She was a member of Sunnyvale General Baptist Church. Emily married Ivan Adams and they were blessed with four children. After Ivan’s passing, she married Lloyd “Bud” Chappell in 2003. Emily left a wonderful Christian legacy for her family. She was saved when she was eight years old and lived her whole life serving Jesus. Ivan was a deacon and she assisted him with his ministry in the Galilee Association. She was a faithful Christian and enjoyed revivals, singing gospel music, playing guitar, and other ministries. Emily even wrote a few songs of her own throughout her lifetime. She loved to read historical and inspirational books. She will be missed the most by her children, who regarded her as a great mother with a loving smile. She is preceded in death by both her husbands and a daughter, Linda Kay Adams. Emily is survived by her children: Butch Adams and wife Brenda of Greenville, MO, Pamela Massa and husband Woody of Patterson, MO, Maria Hunter and husband Rick of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Tracy Farnsworth and husband Rich of Coloma, MI, Jana Morgan of Marble Hill, MO, Michelle Nichols of Cape Girardeau, MO, Leslie Adams of Cabot, AR, Charity Schluter and husband Chad of Arnold, MO, Joshua Hunter of St. Louis, MO; many great-grandchildren. Visitation was held at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, MO. Funeral service was at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2019, also at the Greenville chapel. Bro. Kenny Burchard ministered to the family. Bro. Rick Hunter gave a heart felt eulogy. Special music was provided by Rick and Maria Hunter. Woody Massa, Chad Schluter, Stephen Schardan, Taumas Nichols, and Joshua Hunter served as pallbearers. Burial followed at Corinth Cemetery in Lowndes, MO.
