Eurman Smith Jr

Eurman “Jr” Smith Jr., 82, of Piedmont, MO, passed away, Monday, September 16, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born May 7, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to parents Eurman and Essie (Hurtz) Smith Sr. Jr was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He has lived in Piedmont his entire life. He married Janiece A. Mell on July 10, 1959, and to this union, three children were born. Jr started working on opening day when Brown Shoe Company opened in Piedmont. He worked at Brown Shoe until the day they closed their doors. Jr enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. Family was important to Jr and he loved to spend time with them. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-seven years; grandchild: Stryker Lee Boone Smith; sisters: Loretta Eads and Joan Middleton. Jr is survived by his children: Ray Smith of Piedmont, Rory Smith and wife Hollyann of Piedmont, Darla Allen and husband Benton of Silva, MO; grandchildren: Zach Wadlow and daughter Laven Wadlow, Kohlton Smith, Ellah Rae Smith, Harlynn Smith, Patrick Wagner, Aaron Smith; eight great-grandchildren; brothers; Ronnie J Smith and wife Patsy of Piedmont, Danny L Smith of Piedmont, Lois Johnson of Patterson, Gloria Adams and husband Harold of Patterson. Jr will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation was held at 1:00 pm, September 21, 2019, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont. Funeral services followed at 2:00 pm, also at the Piedmont chapel. Pastor Eric Lemons ministered to the family. Ray Smith, Rory Smith, Zach Wadlow, Westley Smith, Patrick Wagner, and Aaron Smith served as pallbearers. Ronnie Wayne Smith served as honorary pallbearer. Burial followed in Masonic Cemetery.
