Vernon Stevenson

Vernon B. Stevenson, 86, of Vulcan, MO, passed away, Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. He was born on July 30, 1933 in Vulcan, MO, to the late Thomas B. and Marie (Charlton) Stevenson. Vernon grew up in Vulcan and attended Vulcan School. He was united in marriage to Ida Young, and to this union three children were born. On May 18, 1985, Vernon married Rosetta Middleton-Fears and they enjoyed thirty-four happy years together. He was a member of the Vulcan Assembly of God Church. Vernon was a backhoe operator for Cocos Plumbing in Lemay, MO for thirty-seven years. He loved to travel, especially trips to Branson, MO, and was an avid country and bluegrass music fan. Vernon enjoyed his 1948 2-ton Ford truck that he fully restored. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son: Vernon Michael Stevenson; brothers: Guy Stevenson, Eugene Stevenson, Lowell Stevenson, Richard Stevenson; sister; Melba Clifford. Vernon is survived by his loving wife Rosetta; children: Mark Stevenson of Vulcan, MO, Vicky Morrison and husband Randy of Arnold, MO, Clayton Fears and wife Patty of Barnhart, MO, Eric Fears and wife Kristan of Pensacola, FL, Pam Wisely and husband Dan of New Madrid, MO, Karen Wright and husband Dave of St Clair, MO, Annette McMahan and companion Johnny Johnson; grandchildren: Ann Marie Aufdenberg and husband Todd, Mark Stevenson, Alex Stevenson, Tyler Morrison; great-grandchild: Adalynn Aufdenberg, fourteen step-grandchildren and twenty-five great-step-grandchildren; brothers: Jerry Stevenson of Clarence, MO, Gary Stevenson and wife Rita of Lucas, KY; sisters: Patsy Potter of Piedmont, MO, Shirley Caldwell of Wappapello, MO, Charlotte McClain and husband Dennis of O’Fallon, MO, Carolyn Fulton and husband Robert of Patterson, MO. Visitation was held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont, MO. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm also in the Piedmont Chapel. Interment was at Mt.
