Alan Grant Cates

Alan Grant Cates, 64, of Marthasville, MO, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Big River Nursing Center, Cedar Hill, MO. He was born in St. Louis, MO, September 16, 1957, to parents, Willis “Bunk” Cates and Shirley (Thompson) White.

Alan was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He married Candice “Candi” Woods April 15, 1989, and they were blessed with three children. Alan was a member of the Laborers Union, Local 110 for forty-six years. He retired from Luth and Sons after twenty-two years of service. Alan was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He enjoyed outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. He looked forward to every March for Trout fishing. He loved to trout and bass fish. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Dana Cates.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of a total of thirty-six years; children: Kasey Cates of Marthasville, MO, Dana Cates and wife Sarah Pingel of Fort Riley, KS; Kodee Hughey and husband Mike of Labadie, MO; grandchildren: Lilly Sullivan-Cates, Nathan, Parker, and Anna Hughey; brothers: Monte Cates of Piedmont, Wayne Cates and wife Debbie of Troy, MO. Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.     

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 8, 2022, at Carson Hill Cemetery, Mill Spring, MO, with burial following. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
