Barbara Louise Lyon, age 80, of Piedmont, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
"Barb" was born on September 3, 1944, in Little Rock Arkansas, to parents Roy Rogers Brown and Lora Louise (White) Brown. On December 8, 1983, Barb was united in marriage to Spencer Lyon until his passing on December 31, 2005. Barb was a faithful Catholic, attending St. Catherines of Sienna in Piedmont, and served as a lector during many Sunday morning Masses. She served over forty years as a Clearwater High School and Middle School English and Literature teacher. She was also involved in the drama club for many years. Barb was a thorough teacher that cared about her students. She often said that you must know the right way to use the English language.
Barb always had a passion for animals. She spent her retirement rescuing as many dogs and cats as she could, while working hand-in-hand with the Piedmont Paw Protectors. Aside from rescuing animals, she enjoyed reading, trivia matches, Marvel movies, and her grandsons.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Barb is survived by Jake Hime, whom she thought of as a son, and his wife Brittany of Ellington, and their sons Cash and Cruz Hime, which will fondly remember Granny Barb; and several first cousins.
Funeral mass was held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Catherines of Sienna Catholic Church, Piedmont, MO. Father Dan Hirtz ministered to the family. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuenralhomes.com
