Barbara Toler Obituary

Barbara Inez Toler, 92, of Silva, MO, passed away at her residence Sunday, February 16, 2025. She was born March 7, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, to parents William and Virginia (Hagan) Bennett.

Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose love and strength left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She married the love of her life, William Toler, on January 29, 1949, and they were blessed with five children and shared a life full of love, laughter, and memories. A woman of deep faith, Barbara was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She was known for her incredible cooking skills, especially her ability to create delicious meals that brought joy to everyone around her. Barbara took great pride in passing down her culinary knowledge, teaching her grandchild Kolton to cook and sharing her love for family meals. In addition to her love of cooking, she enjoyed crocheting beautiful tablecloths, adding a personal touch. Barbara was never one to mince words; she was   known for her honesty and directness. You always knew exactly where she stood, and that openness made her a trusted confidante and a reliable presence in the lives of her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years; sons: Butch and Michael Toler; sisters: Virginia Bennett, Janet Crane, and Gail Bennett.

Barbara is survived by her daughters: Rita Jacks and husband Tom of St. Charles, June Davis of Silva, Debbie Gonta and husband Al of Chesterfield; grandchildren: Jason Light, Michael Toler, Lisa Jacks, Mindy Jacks, and Melissa Edwards; great-grandchildren: Cierra, Jamie, Trinity, and Kolten Light; sister: Linda Melzer and husband Ronald of Apex, NC; a host of nieces, nephews. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A life well-lived, Barbara’s memory will be cherished forever.

A graveside service was held Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:30 pm, at Coldwater Methodist Cemetery, also known as Paullus Cemetery, Coldwater, MO. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Jason Light, Kolten Light, Michael Toler, Steve Rone, Kevin Childress and Alex Ruegg served as pallbearers. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
