Betty Jo Gentles, 71, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at her residence. She was born February 10, 1953, in Kennett, MO, to Jasper Lee and Maggie Virginia (Gunter) White.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a woman who lived her life with great love for her family and a deep appreciation for nature. She married the love of her life, Charles Gentles, on September 30, 1972, and they were blessed with three children. Betty worked at Brown Shoe for several years, but her true passions lay in the simple joys of life: gardening, hunting, fishing, and baking. She was also dedicated to giving back to her community, volunteering her time at the Catholic Outreach Center.
Her greatest legacy, however, was the love and devotion she gave to her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, warm spirit, and unwavering support for her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-one years; son: Eddie Gentles; brothers: Stanley and Jackson White; sisters: Norma Marlow, Mary Walker, Rosie Leggitt, and Lola Boyer.
Betty is survived by her children: Charles "Chuck" Gentles Jr. and wife Shannon of Piedmont, and Amy Gentles and companion, Bahiyuddeen Boyd of Piedmont; grandchildren: Eddie Gentles, Kandace Gentles, Peyton Greathouse, Charlie Gentles and wife Emily, Victoria Gentles, Keeten Lewis; great-grandchildren: Keaton, Logan, Joseph Mills; brother: Bill White and wife Dorothy of Ellsinore.
Betty’s family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 3, 2025, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral will follow at 2:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Burial will be in Mill Spring Cemetery, Mill Spring, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
