Betty McRoy Obituary

Betty Jane McRoy, 89, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. She was born in Puxico, MO, August 20, 1936, to Oliver and Queen Esther (Reel) Thrasher.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her family meant everything to her.

She was united in marriage to Curtis Leroy Hyten on November 11, 1954, and they were blessed with six children. After the death of Curtis, Betty later married Charles Leon McRoy Sr., and the two shared many special memories together.

Betty was known for her strong work ethic and worked many jobs throughout her life. Her employment included the Brown Shoe Factory, Onion Ring Factory, Monroe Auto Equipment, Deer Path Inn, Railroad Lounge, Country Inn, as well as various retail positions. Her favorite work was hosting at Missouri state parks, a role she cherished because of her love for the outdoors. She proudly hosted at Silver Mines in Fredericktown and at Mill Creek State Park.

Above all else, Betty was a Christian and a faithful servant of the Lord. She was of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church in Brunot. Betty loved her family dearly and showed her love through tough love, guidance, and sacrifice. She was truly a selfless woman who always put others before herself.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by both of her husbands; son: Tommy Hyten; daughter; Pat Harmon; grandchildren: Corey Hyten, Justin Hyten; brothers: David Thrasher, Bill Thrasher, Steve Thrasher; sisters: Ann Stout, Tina Scott, and Sue Hicks.

Betty is survived by her children: Rick Hyten of Des Arc, Roy Hyten of Piedmont, Billy Hyten of Sikeston, Paul Hyten of Lafe, AR, and Candy Huffman of Clarksville, TN; many grandchildren; great and great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Cy Thrasher and wife Peggy of Moscow Mills, John Thrasher of GA; sisters: Merida Ezell of Campbell, Brenda Reed of Neelyville, Alta Mallory of Mississippi, Louellen Thrasher of Des Arc, Denise Kulum and husband Randy of Bernie; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Her legacy of faith, strength, hard work, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Beulah Baptist Church, Brunot, MO. Funeral service followed at 2:30 pm, also in the church. Bro. Tim Bridges ministered to the family. Jeremy Hyten, Darrell Hyten, Shaw Hyten, Ryan Lands, Landon Lawson, and Landon Rawls served as pallbearers. Andrew Miller, Arron Ivy, and Jonathan Webb served as honorary pallbearers.
