Betty Jo Ruble Obituary

Betty Jo (Bennett) Ruble of St. Louis, MO, was born at Patterson, MO, April 25, 1931 and died January 29, 2020 at Poplar Bluff, MO. She was the loving wife of Vernon Guy Ruble for 56 years. Preceding in death, was Vernon, her parents, Lee P. and Opal Belle (White) Bennett of Patterson, MO and her in-laws, David Thomas and Virgie Belle (Webb) Ruble of Piedmont, MO, her brother-in-laws, Jim Seal, and John Hand. Betty Jo was one of six children. Preceding her in death was her brother, George Lee (Linda) Bennett. Her surviving siblings include Bobbie Otto Bennett and wife Melba, Melva Helen Seal, Geneva Evelyn Hand, Jeri Vegyelek and husband Joe. Betty Jo attended Frazier’s Creek school and was in the “Chart Class”. Her family moved from Silva to the Damon area during the 1939-1940 school year. She attended school at Damon during the 1940-1944 school years, until the school was closed and consolidated. During the 7th and 8th grade, classes were in held in the basement of the Patterson High School She graduated from Patterson High School, class of 1948.  She attended college in Flat River, MO and was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse at Bounds Creek and Cuba School. Betty Jo and Vernon Guy were married at Patterson, MO, March 31, 1951. They lived in St. Louis, MO where she worked at Famous Barr until they started their family. As Vernon began his career at McDonnell Douglas, they bought their first home on Folk Ave. in Maplewood, MO where they lived from 1954-1966. With their family of five children, they moved to Cedar Hill, MO. As their children grew older, Betty Jo was employed by Hubbs Machine Inc. Betty Jo was a homemaker and accomplished local artist who participated in many art shows winning prized ribbons. She was a long-time member of the St. Louis Artist Guild, South County Artist Guild and showed at numerous art fairs during the 1970’s-1980’s. She made many long-lasting friendships with other artists. Betty Jo also loved photography. A camera was always in her purse, ready for a sunset. Betty Jo enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, reading, and loved nature, flowers and all the seasons that Missouri offers. She captured those wonderful memories in beautiful photographs and paintings. She also had an incredible love of the family history. Her knowledge would be missed by many at the family reunions and sweet long-lasting phone calls that explained detailed information. Betty Jo and Vernon were the proud parents of five children. Roger Lee (Lisa) Ruble, of Patterson, MO, Vernita Jo (Alan) Cogo of St. Louis, MO, Sheryl Lynne BennettRuble, of Patterson, MO, Bennett Lee (Cindy) Ruble of St. Charles, MO and Bettye Gayle (Tom) Juergens of Dittmer, MO. She loved her grandchildren, Ryan (Stacy) Ruble of Wasilla, AK, Matthew (Melinda) Ruble of Wildwood, MO, Zachary (Vivi) Ruble of Bogota, South America, Amber (Coy) Wilhelmy of O’Fallon, MO, Rachell (Niel) Koenig of Annapolis, MO, Heaven Ruble and friend Taylor Gaines, Matt (Sharon) Cogo of Creve Couer, MO, Angie Vick of Belleville, IL, Aileen Cogo and fiancée Andrew Krapfl of Affton, MO and Dillon Ruble of Rolla, MO. In addition, she loved her great-grandchildren including, Taylor (Barry) Reid, Kendall Ruble, Zeke Ruble, and Ryuss Ruble and Benjamin Ruble, and Jack Wilhelmy, Penelope Wilhelmy and Arwen Koening, Eowyn Koening and Sonny Cogo, Angelo Cogo, Luca Cogo and Allyson Vick and Courtney (Sam) Parker including their children Riley and Jaren Parker and Hayden, Chase and Caleb Ruble. She was a member of the Church of Nazarene of House Springs, MO. Betty Jo was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many. Visitation was from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, Sat., Feb. 1, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Mike Green and Bro. Pete Ruble ministered to the family. Ryan Ruble, Bobbie Bennett, David Bennett, Philip Bennett, Tracey Bennett, Jeff Hand, Jimmy Seal and Mark Seal served as pallbearers. Chuck Bennett, Billy Ruble, Johnny Ruble, Tommy Ruble, Gene Ruble, Mike Ruble, and Charles Collier served as honorary pallbearers.  Burial was in Lewis Cemetery, Lodi.
