Bettye Jane (Hensler) Knight

Bettye Jane Knight, 74, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born in East St. Louis, IL, on April 2, 1947, to parents George Adam and Tottie Nona Lynn (Dearlove) Hensler.

Bettye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was married to Willis Knight on November 7, 1964, and to this union four children were born. Bettye was a secretary for Boatmen’s Bank during her working years. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, and loved to follow her family ancestry. She loved all animals.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son: William Richard Kight; and sister: Betty Louise Hensler.

Bettye is survived by her husband of fifty-six years; sons: James Richard Kight of Bethalto, IL, Richard Willis Knight of Piedmont, Charles Raymond Knight of Piedmont; grandchildren: James Richard Knight of Trenton, Jaima Rea-Lee Kight of Alton, IL; brother: Roy Hensler of Washington state; niece’s and nephew’s and special companion, her dog, Katrina. Bettye will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 28, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral followed at 12:00 noon, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Ralph Damon ministered to the family. Burial was at Mill Spring Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
