Brenda Kay Henson, 63, of Greenville, MO, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at her residence. She was born in St. Louis, MO, October 30, 1959, to parents LeRoy and Dorothy “Jean” (McCarty) Bennett.
Brenda was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and loving grandmother and daughter. She married Michael Henson on June 12, 1976, and they were blessed with two children. Brenda was of the Assembly of God faith; she was an ordained minister and pastored Faith Assembly of God Church (Jonah’s Java) in Greenville. She traveled on several mission trips with the church and enjoyed every minute of it. Brenda was a major part of the Greenville community. She had a special place in her heart for the children. She was the Jr. High school secretary for several years before opening Jonah’s Java for the children after school. A hot meal was lovingly prepared for the children and awaited them when they arrived after school. There were many games and activities for them to do as well. Brenda started a food pantry through her church and provided food to anyone in need in the community. Brenda loved her family with all her heart, especially her grandchildren. She was a special kind of lady. Brenda will be greatly missed by not only her family and friends but the community as well.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother: Lindell Lee Bennett as an infant.
Brenda is survived by her mother; her husband of forty-seven years; children: Jennifer Reed and husband Craig of Van Buren; Jeremy Henson and wife Kristina of Springfield, grandchildren: Jonah Reed, Addyson Reed, Ashton Henson, Bennett Henson; sister: Ronda Chandler of Kansas City, MO; mother-in-law: Rosalee Henson of Piedmont; brother-in-law: Dale Henson and wife Connie of Patterson; nieces and nephews: Christopher Chandler, Kelsea Baker, Carissa Chandler, Robert Henson, Amy Hughey and families; and many friends.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Pastor Don Miller ministered to the family. Pastor Stan Welch presented the Christian flag to the family and gave a heartfelt eulogy. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
