Bryan L. Stephens, 61, of Nixa, MO, formerly of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Springfield. Bryan was born October 7, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, to parents, William Edward and Carolyn Mae (McFall) Stephens.
On April 4, 2015, Bryan married Sharon (Dawn) Richmann. He grew up in the Kansas City area and attended high school there. He was a City Bus Operator for Kansas City at the Metro for about nine years before moving to Springfield, MO, where he was currently employed at City Utilities as a City Bus Operator for the past twenty-three years. Bryan loved the Lord and his family. He was active at Life Church in Springfield and started an online video ministry for his church and streamed live videos each Sunday. Bryan enjoyed motorcycle rides, hunting, shooting, camping, woodworking, bowling, four wheeling and spending time with family and grand babies. He also enjoyed playing darts, pool, cornhole, cards, and many other activities.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law: Sharon Cordy and step-mother-in-law: Bev Richmann.
Bryan is survived by his loving wife, of the home; father-in-law: Dave Richmann; sons: Joel Stephens of Kansas City, MO, Cory Stephens, of Kansas City, MO, Kurt Stephens and wife Taylor of Republic, MO, Brent Calvert and wife Jacquilynn, of Springfield, MO, Brandon Stephens of Watertown, SD, stepsons: Dustin Barrett of Des Moines, IA, Nathan Barrett and wife Summer, of Clever, MO; daughters: Janelle Stephens of Melvern, KS, McKayla (Stephens) Shebesta and husband Mike of Rogersville, MO; several grandchildren: Keninn Stephens, Taylor Stephens, Blake Stephens, Sawyer Stephens, Malachi Calvert, Luceria Calvert, Hannah Stephens, Carson and Addison Shebesta; brothers: Keith Stephens and wife Elaina of Kansas City, MO, and Mike Stephens of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; step-sister-in-law: Lily Jay and husband Patrick of Platte City, MO. Bryan will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 12:00 noon, also in the Greenville Chapel. Burial was in Richmann Chapel Cemetery, Shook. Pastor Don Richmann ministered to the family. Music was provided by Bro. Alvie Richmond. McKayla Shebesta, Brent Calvert, Kurtis Stephens, Mike Shebesta, Brandon Stephens, Nathan Barrett, and Dustin Barrett served as pallbearers. A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 pm, January 15, 2022, at Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church/Life Church, 722 W Atlantic St, Springfield, MO 65803 with Pastor Richard Tow officiated.
