Carolyn Hamilton Obituary

Carolyn “Carol” Mae Hamilton, 87, of Annapolis, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Country Meadows Nursing Home, Park Hills, MO. She was born in Annapolis, May 11, 1937, to parents Lucian and Mattie (Hampton) Goodman.

Carol was a devoted mother, nurturing grandmother, loving sister, and friend. She married Homer “Peck” Hamilton, January 10, 1953, and they were blessed with five children. Carol was a good helpmate for Peck. She was a beautician for many years at her beauty shop in Hillsboro, MO, until she retired and moved to Annapolis. Carol was a member of the Nazarene Church in Annapolis. She never met a stranger and was always in a good mood. She enjoyed attending ball games. Carol loved to cook for her family. Her specialty was making bologna vegetable soup during deer season. Carol cherished the time she spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years; great-grandchildren: Luke Reed, Abigail Carter; brothers: Charles Goodman and Harvell “Pard” Goodman; sisters: Martha Ellen “Jane” Gibson, Marjorie Watts, Reba Oxner, and Mattie Ann Evans.

Carol is survived by her children: Kevin Hamilton and wife Lisa of Des Arc, Rockey Hamilton and wife Susan of Manchester, TN, Charles Hamilton of Des Arc, Russell Hamilton and wife Bonnie of Des Arc; Scherryl Smith and husband Jim of Bismarck; grandchildren: Derek Smith and wife Angie, Amanda Nielsen and husband Nate, Elisha Irby and husband Josh, Jennifer Phillips and husband Chris, Brandy Millikan and husband Scott, Joe Hamilton, Heather Carter and husband Adam, Jeremiah Hamilton and wife Caitlin, Ryan Scaggs and wife Kathy, Tasha Hamilton, Chanda Freeze and husband Dillon, Heaven Hamilton, Chasidy Brabham and husband James, Justin Hamilton and wife Beth; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, Octavia; one sister, Wanda West, of Park Hills. Carol’s greatest legacy was her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  

Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024, at Nazarene Church of Annapolis. Pastor Howard Casteel ministered to the family. Derrick Smith, Joe Hamilton, Jeremiah Hamilton, Ryan Scaggs, Justin Hamilton, James Brabham, Silas Brabham, and Samuel Brabham served as pallbearers. Gabe Carter and Malachi Carter served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Meadows Cemetery, Annapolis, MO. Online condolences can be made to www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
