Carolyn Colene Kimes, 88, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Clarks Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. She was born in Ellington, MO, March 18, 1935, to parents Earl and Zella (Buxton) Martin.
Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married Louis “Gene” Kimes, November 8, 1954, and they were blessed with five children. Carolyn was a nurturing homemaker for her family. She was a military wife and enjoyed traveling. She and her husband owned and operated Kimes Sinclair in Des Arc in the early 1970’s, Kimes Flea Market for many years and worked campgrounds all over the country, in their retirement years. She enjoyed crafting and was an avid Bingo player at the American Legion. Carolyn’s greatest legacy was her family whom she loved unconditionally and very proud of each one, including her siblings. She was very close to her brothers and sisters.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-three years; son: Ronald “Ronnie” Kimes; daughter: Roberta Kimes; brothers: Glenwood and James Martin; sisters: Wanda Marie Martin, Eunice Ruble, Maxine Quillman, Belle Johnson, Mary Lou Smith, Ethel Martin, Lois Long, and Joyce Martin.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Robert “Bobby” Kimes of Piedmont, Roy Kimes and wife Debbie of Piedmont; Rita Berry and husband Mark of Tuscon, AZ; grandchildren: Michael Kimes, Jason Stout and wife Christine of Olathe, KS, Robbie Kimes, Amanda Wilson, Bryan Kimes, Kimberly Serrano and husband Jeff, AC Berry, Mark Berry II and wife Brandy, Kyle Berry, Arlo Kimes and wife Mandy, Felix Pflock, Miranda Dean and husband Leonard; many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 9, 2024, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Kameron Serrano, Arlo Kimes, Brendon Berry, Michael Kimes, Jason Stout, and AC Berry served as pallbearers. Felix Pflock served as honorary pallbearer. Burial followed in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
