Charles Leon Neagles, Jr. 64 of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, on June 23,1960, to parents Charles and Betty (Loyd) Neagles Sr.
Charles was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved hunting, fishing and spending his time outdoors. Charles proudly served fifteen years in the United States Army. He was Sergent First Class and served in the 82nd Airborne unit as a paratrooper and served during the Grenada conflict. Charles received the following decorations, medals, badges and ribbons: Army service ribbon, air assault badge, parachutist badge NCO professional development ribbon, armed forces expeditionary medal, expert qualification badge M-16 rifle, national defense service medal overseas service ribbon, and pathfinder badge, Army commendation medal, Army achievement medal, combat infantryman badge, Army good conduct medal, Meritorious service medal. Charles truly loved his family and was very proud of each member. His family was his greatest legacy.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Audrey West, Leon Neagles, Everett and Elsie Loyd; sisters: Susan Gullett and Victoria Hewitt.
Charles is survived by his father and stepmother: Charles and Vada Neagles Sr., children: Serenity Pearson and husband Nate, Crystal Edmundson and husband Earl; grandchildren: Kaylynn, Ciaran, Clara, Charlotte, Caroline, Joseph, Nate; great-grandchild: Ayden; sister: Lorna Reuss and husband John; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Charles will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm, with full military honors, at Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
