Charles Leon Neagles Sr., 88, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born March 6, 1936, in Elvins, MO, to parents Leon Douglas and Audrey (Reeves) Neagles.
Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married Betty Jean Loyd, and they were blessed with four children. After Betty's passing, Charles found love again and married Vada (Jackson) Waller on July 30, 2016. In their short time together, they created many cherished memories.
Charles was an electrician by trade, working first at McDonnell Douglas before moving on to the Chrysler Manufacturing plant, where he spent many years honing his craft. His passion for his work was rooted in the eight years he proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, and perfected his trade. Charles's dedication to his career and service to his country shaped much of his life.
A man of deep faith, Charles was a member of the United Church of God in Poplar Bluff. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water. Charles also had a love for travel and explored many destinations, including Europe, Florida, the Gulf Coast, and Alabama, in addition to taking several cruises. An enthusiastic reader, Charles enjoyed learning and sharing his knowledge with those around him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife; son: Charles Neagles Jr.; daughters: Susan Gullett and Victoria Huitt; brother: Lyndell Neagles.
Charles is survived by his wife, of eight years; daughter: Lorna Reuss and husband John of St. Charles; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Forrest "Corky" Neagles and wife Carol of St. James, MO.
Charles will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will always be remembered for his love, faith, and devotion to his family.
