Dale Jarrett Obituary

Dale Dennis Jarrett, 78, of Piedmont, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, on December 25, 1945, to Clyde and Phyllis (Jarrett) Laxton.

Dale was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He grew up in the Mill Spring area and attended Mill Spring School. In 1970, he met the love of his life, Gladys Bilbrey. After two years of dating, they were happily married on July 12, 1972. Together, they were blessed with two children and built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Dale was a great companion to Gladys and their bond remained strong for fifty-two years.

Dale proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a truck driver for many years, a career that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Piedmont, where he instilled his strong Christian faith in his family and all who knew him. Dale's faith was central to his life, and he shared his compassionate faith with unwavering dedication.

Dale was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and was known for his great sense of humor. His infectious laughter and friendly personality made him beloved by many. Dale loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored. His greatest legacy will be the love he gave to his family and the memories they will hold close to their hearts.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandchild: Justin Shaw; brother: Barry Jarrett.

Dale is survived by his loving wife; children: Michael "Ray" Shaw and wife Dawn of Gillespie, IL, Lisa Jarrett and Mike Conlee of Gillespie, IL; grandchildren: Michael Shaw and wife Brandy, Joseph Jarrett and wife Abby, Amber Niehaus and husband Braden, Alexandra Conlee, and Austin Conlee; great-grandchildren: Camden, Aubrey, Saige, Emma, Parker, Jack, Landon, Chandlor, Mack, Cooper, and Myka; a younger brother; and sisters: Lorene and Brenda; several nieces and nephews. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation was held at 10:00 am, Friday, November 29, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Pete Ruble ministered to the family. Kevin Wesmolan gave a heartfelt eulogy. Michael Shaw, Ray Shaw, Braden Niehous, Joseph Jarrett, Kevin Wesmolan, Tommy Nickless, Michael Conlee, and Tim Nickless served as pallbearers. Burial was in Duncan Cemetery, Williamsville, MO, with full military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 281, Piedmont, MO.
