Darles “Sue” Wlodarcik, 79, of Poplar Bluff, MO, took her last breath on earth at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO, and her first breath in Heaven on August 4, 2024. She was born in St. Louis, MO, April 14, 1945, to parents Hoyce Ray and Goldie Susan (Bazzell) Layton Sr.
Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She married Theodore “Ted” Wlodarcik, July 20, 1963, and they were blessed with two children. Sue was a senior tech support at McAllister Software for several years. She was a Christian and her love of the Lord showed in the way she loved people. Sue was always willing to do whatever she could to help others. She enjoyed reading, gardening and planting flowers. Sue was full of life. She lived every day to the fullest and everyone who knew her loved her. She never missed an opportunity to make a memory with her family and was up for any adventure that was suggested. Sue’s favorite things were her family and her dogs. Her family was her greatest legacy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-four years; her daughter: Dawn Michelle “Shelley” Adams; brother: Hoyce Ray Layton Jr.; sister: Darlene Beezley.
Sue is survived by her children: Brent Wlodarcik and wife Jeannie of Poplar Bluff, bonus daughter: Shannon Myers and daughter: Kaitona Myers; six grandchildren: Amanda Kyle and husband Devin, Kyle Adams and significant other Tara Mitchell, Ariel Brower and husband James, Ryan Wlodarcik, Chance Kendle and wife Emma, Maci Wlodarcik; ten great-grandchildren: Cody, and Alyvia Sullivan, Millie and Mikey Kyle, Theo, Nora, and Emmett Adams, Willow Bennett, Tage Brower, Bailey Brower; brothers: Robert Layton and wife Linda of Amelia, OH, Donald Layton of O’Fallon, MO; sister: Brenda Holsapple of Poplar Bluff; special great-niece: Crystal Walker. Sue will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Memorial service followed at 11:00 am, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Guest speaker was Melissa Keith. Dave Elledge read the obituary. Brent and Jeannie Wlodarcik gave heartfelt eulogies. Special songs were provided by Brent Wlodarcik and Amanda Kyle. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO.
