Dian Sullivan Obituary

Dian Sullivan, 73, of Des Arc, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in St. Louis, MO. She was born in Ironton, MO, May 12, 1948, to parents William “Goldie” and Laura (Mann) Middleton.

Dian was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She met the love of her life, Elzie Sullivan, when they were young teenagers, and they were joined in marriage on January 24, 1964. With Dian’s love for family, being the youngest of thirteen herself, she and Elzie were blessed with six children, whom she cherished beyond words. Dian’s love and dedication for her family was undeniable. She had breakfast on the table every morning for her kids before school and when they stepped off the bus in the evening, they could smell the aroma of supper as they walked up the driveway. She was at her happiest when her family was together laughing and sharing stories. She was not only a nurturing mother to her six children, but also known as “Mom” to every friend her kids brought home. She was the best mom in the world. Dian had a passion for antiques and she and Elzie loved their trips to the flea market and antique shops together collecting “boxes of treasures” that she took so much pride in. Dian also loved to read, in fact so much that when the Des Arc library closed Elzie bought every book, they had for Dian so she would have her own library.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson: Marcus Jones; brothers: Bob, Russell, and Billy Middleton; sisters: Doris McFadden, Alma Scarborough, Maxine Mitchell, Lois Ruble, Helen Stout, and Millie Hill.

Dian is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years; children: Jeff Sullivan and wife Wendy, Robert Sullivan and wife Sarah, Zan Sullivan and wife Erika, Paula Jones and husband Mark all of Des Arc, Angie Miller and husband Darrell of Annapolis, Sarah Lashley and husband Jared of Annapolis; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brothers: Jerry Middleton and wife Sandy of Annapolis, Ronnie Middleton and wife Kay of Pilot Knob; sisters; Joyce Brown and husband Roy of Annapolis, Rosetta Stevenson of Piedmont. Dian will be greatly missed by her family, community, and friends.
