Donald Ray Heffner, 83, of Patterson, MO, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Kennett, MO, on February 20, 1939, to parents Robert Thomas and Emma (Purdom) Heffner.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He married Shirley Winberry November 1, 1958, and they were blessed with three children. Donald enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and traveling to Arkansas with his family to trout line fish. He loved to eat catfish. Donald enjoyed working on cars and was a mechanic for about twenty-eight years in his younger working career. In his later years, he was the grounds keeper at Wayne Medical Center for about twenty-two years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son: Donald Gene Heffner; brothers: Johnny, Clyde, and Earl Heffner; sisters: Louisa Mansfield, Pauline Jaques, Rether Mungle, and Gertie Vasquez.
Donald is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-four years; children: Roger Dale Heffner and wife Alexandria of Ballwin, Demetra Bond and husband Donnie of Jackson; grandchildren: Matthew Heffner and wife Ashley, John Heffner, Ashley Heffner, Nicholas Bixler, Dalton Bond; great-grandchild: Avery Pruett; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation was held at 3:00 pm, Monday, November 28, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 6:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel.
