Donna Blackwell Obituary

Donna Kay Blackwell, 88, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born in St. Louis, MO, September 20, 1937, to Auther and Clara (Matkin) Blackwell.

Donna was a loving aunt, and friend. She grew up in Piedmont and graduated from Clearwater High School. After graduation, Donna moved to the Crestwood area of St. Louis, where she began a long and dedicated career with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company, retiring after thirty-three years of service.

At the age of twelve, Donna was saved and baptized at Piedmont Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong journey of faith. She remained a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was an active member of her church in Crestwood. Donna faithfully served wherever she was needed, and taught Sunday School for many years encouraging others through her example of quiet strength and unwavering belief. She believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Donna found joy in traveling and shopping, but her greatest legacy was her service to her Lord and the deep love she had for her family and friends. She leaves behind a testimony of faith, kindness, and dedication that touched the lives of many.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Carl Blackwell and his wife Ruby; and sister: Verna Haywood and her husband Ray.

Donna is survived by her nephew: Mike Blackwell and wife Jackie; great-nephew: Wesley Blackwell and wife Sabrina; great-niece: Jade Blackwell and companion Tre; great-great-nephews: Austin Blackwell and wife Jessi, Lane Blackwell and wife Skylar; great-great-niece: Alyssa Durr and husband Tevan; and great-great-great-nieces and nephews: Piper, Dallas, James, Weston, Sophia, Paisley, Areana, and Oaklynn.

Donna will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and steadfast faith remain an inspiration to those she leaves behind.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO. Bro. Pete Ruble ministered to the family. Austin Blackwell, Lane Blackwell, Wesley Blackwell, Tevan Durr, and Tre Durr served as pallbearers. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
