Donna Sue Shipley, 71, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Festus, MO.
Donna was born in Chicago, IL, July 23, 1950, to parents Everett Williamson and Constance (Howard) Williamson. She grew up and graduated from high school there. In her twenties she moved to Missouri to follow her sister Linda with whom she had a close relationship with. There in St. Louis she met and later married Carl Melvin Shipley on July 25, 1970, and to this union two children were born.
Donna was a Christian and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Piedmont.
Donna was a very independent and some might even say stubborn. Stubborn enough to even clean gutters by herself a week before she fell ill. She had worked as a security guard at Taum Sauk Hydroelectric Plant for Securitas prior to retirement.
She was the life of the party and had a generous heart, always laughing. When her children were growing up she was very active in scouting, being a leader in girl scouts and for a coed explorer troop. Donna was an avid traveler nearly making all fifty states. A favorite past time was bowling which she was competitive enough to travel and bowl in senior tournaments. She also enjoyed her membership in the Elk’s club in Ironton and Piedmont Eagle’s club, where she enjoyed dart games with friends. She also served as the club’s secretary.
Donna is survived by her children; son, Adam Shipley and wife Rebecca of St. Louis, MO, and daughter, Lisa Shipley and husband Jason Politte, of Ballwin, MO; four grandchildren: Amanda Shipley, Hazel Shipley, Kaden Constantz and Isaiah Constantz; four step-grandchildren: Angel Politte, Emily Jensen, Brenden Politte, and Gabrielle Politte; two brothers: George Williamson and wife Elizabeth of Freeport, IL and David Williamson and wife Mary of Hainescity, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-granddaughther Marissa Politte; two sisters: Linda Judd, Eva Williamson, who was about five years old when she passed.
