Doreen "Dodie" (Hancock) Allen

Doreen "Dodie" Allen, 74, of Bridgeton, MO, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, MO. She was born January 21, 1949, to parents Joseph and Carrie (Hood) Hancock.

Dodie was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was married to Forrest Allen and they were blessed with one son. She worked for many years as a machine operator and was also the Activities Director at Brookview Nursing Center for twenty years. Dodie loved to help others, finding bargains while she was “thrifting,” and playing the slots. Dodie was an avid reader; especially mysteries which were her favorite. She enjoyed dancing in her younger years. Dodie loved her muscle cars, but her dearest love was her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband; brothers: Billy Sr. and Norman Hancock; sisters: Louverne Summers, and Glenda Hancock.

Dodie is survived by her son: Scottie Allen of Bridgeton and companion Jennifer Shemonic of Ellis Grove, IL; stepson: Forrest Allen of St. Charles; brothers: Henry Hancock of Greenville, Jerry Hancock and wife Karen of Clubb; sisters: Nelda Matkin and Wretha Huggins both of Fredericktown. Dodie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

Visitation was held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Pastor Richard Baker ministered to the family. Carter McFadden, Ferlin Heath, Lenard heath, Billy Hancock, Jim Allen and Karl Lake served as pallbearers. Burial was in Cowan Cemetery, Lowndes.
