Douglas “Doug” Henry White Sr., 92, of Weldon Spring, MO, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Garden View Nursing Center, O’Fallon, MO. He was born January 10, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, to parents Henry Alexander and Thelma Aletha (Holley) White. After sadly losing his mother at a young age, he gained his loving stepmother, Cora Beatrice White.
Doug was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from August 2, 1950, until September 19, 1953. After Doug came home from service, he married the love of his life, Perma Louise Allen, on June 19, 1954, and they were blessed with four children. Doug was an Operating Engineer operating heavy machinery at Kolb Grading, with Local 513, for sixty plus years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors and hunting, especially his traditional annual hunting trip to South Dakota with family and friends. Doug never met a stranger, and he was the greatest storyteller of all time. He was extremely proud of his father and the legacy he left behind in the Wayne County area. Doug’s greatest achievement was his family, whom he was immensely proud of and loved unconditionally with all his heart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years; daughter: Nina Louise White; sisters: Pat Montgomery, Jackie Auffenberg, and Sara Davis; son-in-law: Bob Hauenstein.
Doug is survived by his children: Douglas White Jr. of Weldon Spring, Chris Hauenstein of St. Charles, Elizabeth Bergsieker and husband Dave of Auxvasse; grandchildren: Miranda, Megan, Hunter, Randy and wife Keri, Stacey and husband Ryan, Jeff and wife Rachel, Lisa; great-grandchildren: Addy, Kash, Noah, Hannah, Hayden, Luke, Ainsley, Caleb, Audrey, Hadley, Colton, Ada, Bella; great-great-grandchild: Cade. Doug will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
