Earl Ransom Davenport, age 91 of St. Louis. He was born in Burbank, MO, February 14, 1932, to the late Euell and Delia (Tibbs) Davenport.
Earl was a loyal, kindhearted, and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married Alice Kathryn Strickland, February 16, 1953, and they were blessed with two beautiful girls. Earl proudly served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War and received a purple heart. He enjoyed family reunions, traveling and stock car races. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Earl loved to listen to Bluegrass music. He was a Christian and past member of Grace Assembly of God Church in Florissant where he served as Deacon. Earl was very religious and enjoyed reading the Bible and had read it from beginning to end seventeen times. He truly loved his Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of seventy years; daughters: Bettie Davenport of Oakville, Kathy Bush and husband Mark of St. Peters; granddaughter Katrina Bush of St. Peters; brother: Jerry Davenport and wife Wilma of St. Charles; sisters: Helen Shrum and husband Jerry of Lowndes, Peggy Leach of Clubb. Earl will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel.
