Eddy A Hughes

Eddy Hughes, 76, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, MO. He was born in Piedmont, August 2, 1947, to parents Arnold E. and Virgie L. (Hicks) Hughes.

Eddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He married Emily “Elaine” Hodge on November 18, 1967, and they were blessed with three sons. He was a graduate from Clearwater High School. Eddy has done many things. He proudly served in the National Guard. Owned and operated Hughes Sinclair for about ten years, worked in the body shop at Ross Ford, worked at Ross Oil, and ran a dozer for several years. Eddy loved old cars, fast cars, and classics. He enjoyed restoring old cars such as the ’37 Chevy, and the ’64 Ford Galaxy convertible.  

Eddy was a Christian and was saved as a young man. He was a member and deacon of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont. He was a Royal Ambassador leader when the kids were young. He went on several mission trips to Wyoming, Colorado and Canada to help build churches. Eddy was big into sports for the kids and grandchildren. His greatest legacy is his family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law: Sandy Clyburn.

Eddy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years; his sons: Todd Hughes and wife Angela of Springfield, Troy Hughes and wife Tedi of Jefferson City, Tony Hughes and wife Jessica of Patterson; grandchildren: Tanner, Tayla, Toby, Lauren, Cody, and Carter Hughes and Lauren Wheelehon; sister: Anna Lea Ross of Piedmont; nephew: Jeff Ross of Piedmont; niece: Lisa Ross of Piedmont; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law: Gail Bauer of Rolla. Eddy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  

Visitation was held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the chapel. Pastor Jim Stewart ministered to the family. Tanner Hughes, Toby Hughes, Cody Hughes, Brandon Clyburn, Luke Dinkins, Travis Clyburn served as pallbearers. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.
