Edward Gene Barnes Sr., 72, of Farmington, MO, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, September 3, 1953, to parents Robert Earl and Rosemary Minnie (Ford) Barnes. Edward was loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. He married Glenda Garrison and they were blessed with two children. A man of the land—simple, strong, and spirited. He found peace outdoors, whether walking long distances to nowhere in particular or simply on a mission, he had walked many miles in his lifetime, to casting a fishing line, or dancing joyfully in the company of friends and family. His love for nature and his enduring sense of independence was matched only by his deep care for those he loved. Edward’s presence was a steady comfort to those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of twenty years; daughter: Angela "Angie" Sanford; brothers: Robert Barnes Jr. and John Barnes. Edward is survived by his son: Edward Barnes Jr. of Potosi; grandchildren: Derek and Shawn Sanford; brothers, Mike Barnes and wife Carol of Farmington, and Louie Barnes and wife Patty of Montgomery City; sisters: Margaret Nonn and husband Melvin of Piedmont, Tina Barnes of Farmington; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Edward's memory will live on in the hearts of many, and his legacy of resilience, kindness, and connection to the simple joys of life will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed. "To walk with nature is to witness a thousand miracles." A celebration of life was held at 12:00 noon, Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Sam A Baker Park in Patterson, MO.
