Elsie Mae Hampton, 87, of Fenton, MO, formerly of Piedmont, MO, peacefully passed away on October 21, 2024, at Delmar Gardens of Meramec Valley in Fenton. Born on October 26, 1936, in Piedmont, she was the daughter of Samuel Benjamin and Elsie Fay (Smith) Gowen.

She married the love of her life, Henry “Hoss” Hampton, on November 22, 1954, and they were blessed with four cherished children. A woman of strong Christian faith, Elsie dedicated nearly seventy years to her spiritual journey and was a beloved member of Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont, where her love for her Lord and the community flourished.

A true matriarch, she instilled strong Christian values in her family and dedicated herself to helping others both within and beyond her family circle. Her greatest legacy lies in the love she nurtured among her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-nine years; her brothers: John “Bill,” James, Paul, Jerry, Samuel, and Arvel Gowen; and her sisters: Mary Brinkley and Anna Gowen.
She is survived by her four children: Cheryl Manuel and husband Jonnie of Belews Creek, NC; Rick Hampton and wife Chris of Arnold, MO; Rodney Hampton and wife Lisa of House Springs, MO; and Robert Hampton and wife Deanna of Farmington, MO.
