Elvin Willard Tyler, 90, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Camelot Nursing and Rehab, Farmington, MO. He was born in Manila, AR, April 14, 1930, to parents Bunk and Grace Tyler.

Elvin was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He lived in Arkansas and Southeast Missouri in his younger years. He worked as a farm laborer, farmed with mules, picked cotton, cut timber with a crosscut saw, and worked on the levy along the Mississippi River. He then moved to Chicago where he found employment at the American Can Company, retiring in January 1986, after dedicating thirty years to the company. After retirement, Elvin moved back to his roots in Missouri.

Elvin was united in marriage to Dottie Copeland on January 23, 1952, and to this union, two beautiful girls were born. He enjoyed hunting, tending animals, and he produced a large vegetable garden every year. Elvin loved to sit on the porch and watch the wildlife in his field. He was very generous with his time and willing to lend a hand to friends and strangers alike. Elvin accepted Christ in 1970 and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Piedmont.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of almost sixty-seven years; brother James Tyler; sister: Freda Winland, and great-granddaughter: Chelsea Yant.

Elvin is survived by his daughters: Brenda Petrey and husband Dan of Patterson, Laura Arnett and husband Bob of Piedmont; grandchildren: Cindy Thompson and husband Eddie of Patterson, Lora Yant of Piedmont, Matt Petrey and wife Carissa of Patterson; great-grandchildren: Justin Thompson of Piedmont, Kevin Yant of Piedmont, Owen, Allie and Claire Petrey all of Patterson; brother: Arevil Tyler of Valley Springs, CA. Elvin will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
