Floyd Booher Obituary

Floyd Lee Booher, 93, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Harry S Truman VA Hospital in Columbia.

Floyd was born in Patterson, MO, April 28, 1932, to parents Robert James and Nancy Ann (Lester) Booker. He was raised in Booker Holler near Patterson, a place he held close to his heart throughout his life.

Floyd married the love of his life, Melba Gene Green, January 14, 1956. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They were blessed with three children and a close-knit family that became Floyd’s proudest legacy.

A proud veteran, Floyd served in the United States Army during the Korean War era, earning the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star in recognition of his honorable service.

Floyd was a simple, hardworking and humble man. He made his living as a diesel mechanic for a trucking service, and his mechanical skills also allowed him to assist neighbors and friends by servicing auto air conditioners, always ready to lend a helping hand to his community. In his younger days, Floyd enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace and joy in the outdoors. Later in life, he became a familiar face at McDonald's, where he loved catching up with friends and staying connected to the latest community happenings.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son, Terry Booher; brothers Robert "Bug," Arley, and Ed Booker, Bill Booher; sisters: Nancy and Josephine Booker.

Floyd is survived by his devoted wife, of sixty-nine years; children: David Booher of Columbia, and Rebecca Day and husband Danny of Columbia; daughter-in-law: Patricia Booher of Piedmont; grandchildren: Shaun Hayse and wife Ami, Amanda Day and husband Jared; great-grandchildren: Jacob and Colin Hayse, and Ashtyn Day; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Floyd will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service was held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Rowland-Woods Cemetery, Patterson, MO. Bro. Danny McFadden ministered to the family. Jim Booker, Jim Davis, David Smith, Shaun Hayse, Adam Palmer, Jared Day, Dan Day, and Amanda Day served as pallbearers.
