George Durham Obituary

George “Butch” Woodrow Durham, 80, of Wildwood, MO, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born in Riverside, CA, October 29, 1944, to parents Donald and Sybil (Cook) Durham.

George was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was from Piedmont and graduated from Clearwater High School. He was a Christian and of the Lutheran faith. George worked at General Motors for forty-four years. First at the corvette assembly in St. Louis and later transferred to the truck and van assembly in Wentzville. George met the love of his life, Sharon Hallenberg, at White Castle and were married November 16, 1968, and they were blessed with three daughters. George served with the Missouri Army National Guard in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He enjoyed collecting old signs and license plates. He loved baseball especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved BBQ. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling and were Snowbirds going to Destin each winter with friends. George’s greatest legacy was his family, whom he was very proud of.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Barbara Grigery and Shirley Johnson.

George is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years; daughters: Leah Tomschin and husband Craig of Wildwood, Becky Davis and partner Drew Spavale of St. Charles, Sara Morris and husband Theodore of Wildwood; grandchildren: Chloe, Ella and Nate Tomschin; sister: Pat Glover; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. George will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

A graveside service was held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of George Durham to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
