George Tony Sutton

George Tony Sutton, 76, of Piedmont, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 8, 2026. He was born in Piedmont, MO, May 15, 1950, to parents Ervin and Lena E. (Williams) Sutton.

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He married the love of his life, Connie Lee Hensley, on February 14, 1969. Together, they built a warm and loving home, sharing countless happy memories as they raised their two children.

George was a dedicated provider, working for many years as a refinery operator at the Doe Run smelter plant. In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending time at the river fishing, hunting, and gigging, as well as taking family rides in the jeep. Above all, George cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years; brothers Bob, Billy Ray, Timon, and Clarence "Eugene" Sutton; and sisters Agnes Neslony, Emily Kimes, and Dorothy Sutton.

George is survived by his children, Michael Sutton, Sheri McCormick and husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Christin Hefley and Donnie Hefley and fiancé Kelsie Long; great-grandson, Jayden Hefley; brothers, Jim and Norman Sutton, both of Piedmont; sisters Berniece Kimes of Piedmont and Carolyn Street and husband Ronnie of Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Homes, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Jeff Parker ministered to the family. Donnie Hefley, Danny Patterson, Jayden Hefley, Robby Sutton, Ronnie Street, Jason Sutton and Mike Nobe served as pallbearers.
