Gilbert F. Meadows, 82, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at his residence. Gilbert was born to parents George and Agnes (Thompson) Meadows at Toronto, Canada on July 4, 1942. As a young man the Meadows family moved to America and Gilbert became an American citizen in his teenage years. He resided many years in Southern California where he worked as a commercial fisherman and also as a self-employed general contractor in residential construction field. Gilbert had been the companion of Kathleen for thirty years and married the last seventeen. They never had a cross word and shared many happy times. He was a gentleman, always happy and would do anything for anybody. Fishing was a big part of his life in Southeast Missouri. Whether it was a river, lake or just a hole with water in it he was there. When asked where the best spots to go were he was sure not to disclose any of that information. Gilbert also found enjoyment with his John Deere tractors. He found a church home at Piedmont Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Linda J. Meadows.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of the home; sons: Gilbert Edward Meadows and wife Christina of Buckeye, AZ, Kevin John Meadows and Danny Meadows both of Southern CA, Joseph Schafer and wife Deborah of Gardnerville, NV, Edgar Schafer Jr. and wife Irene of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Donna Meadows of Southern CA; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, James Meadows and wife Beverly of San Antonio, TX; and sister Clover Meadows of Palm Springs, CA.
