Gladys Ann Jarrett, 74, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, in Springfield, IL. She was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, February 7, 1951, to parents Winsel Ray and Grace Delma (Overby) Bilbrey.
Gladys was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, proud great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. In 1970, Gladys met the love of her life, Dale Jarrett. After two years of courtship, they were married on July 12, 1972, beginning a beautiful journey that spanned over five decades. They were blessed with two children and built a life rooted in love, laughter, and countless treasured memories.
Gladys had a creative spirit and a remarkable talent and passion for crocheting—there was nothing she couldn’t craft with yarn and a hook. Her handcrafted pieces, made with love, brought warmth and joy to all who received them. She also had a deep appreciation for travel, especially trips to Branson, and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Whether it was sharing her many stories, spending time with loved ones, or enjoying quiet moments, Gladys embraced each day with gratitude and grace.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-two years; grandchild: Justin Shaw; brother: Larry Bilbrey.
Gladys is survived by her children: Michael “Ray” Shaw and wife Dawn of Gillespie, IL, and Lisa Jarrett and Mike Conlee of Gillespie, IL; grandchildren: Michael Shaw and wife Brandy, Joseph Jarrett and wife Abby, Amber Niehaus and husband Braden, Alexandra Conlee, and Austin Conlee; and great-grandchildren: Camden, Aubrey, Saige, Emmalyn, Parker, Jack, Landon, Chandlor, Mack, Cooper, and Myka, a host of dear friends who were like family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
Gladys will be remembered for her warm heart, her quiet strength, and the joy she brought to every life she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
