Harold Dean Winberry

Harold Dean Winberry, 81, of Silva, MO, passed away in Perryville, MO, surrounded by his family. He was born in Malden, MO, October 23, 1944, to parents Glenn and Clara Lucille (Epley) Winberry.

Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor whose kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Harold married the love of his life, Bonnie Croney, affectionately known as his "Lil Woman" on January 28, 1985. Together, they shared many cherished memories, a lot of laughter, and a special unwavering love.

Harold worked as a welder by trade; however, he was a true jack-of-all-trades, he enjoyed tinkering with everything and had no problem fixing anything he set his mind to. Whether repairing equipment, solving problems, or lending a helping hand, Harold was always willing to put his skills to use for family, friends, and neighbors.

Some of Harold's greatest joys came from spending time outdoors. He loved fishing with his children and grandchildren—his treasured "little buddies"—and gathering with family and friends around a good bonfire. He also enjoyed listening to old country music, especially the songs of Hank Williams Sr. By his side through many happy days was his faithful companion, Peanut, who held a special place in his heart.

Harold's generous spirit and caring nature were evident throughout his life. He never hesitated to help someone in need and will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and dedication to those he loved.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant daughter: Genevia Winberry; brothers, Phil Winberry and Verlyn Winberry; sisters, Mary Gleibe, and Vonice Pindley; his brothers-in-law, Eugene Croney and Jonny Croney; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth Vaughn and Rebecca Tibbs.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of forty-one years; children, Darrell Winberry and wife Erinn of St. Charles, Linda Sanford and husband Gary of Texas, Melissa Stortz and husband Jared of Perryville, Randy Winberry and wife Kathryn of Fredericktown, Larry Winberry and wife Jennifer of Fredericktown; grandchildren: Ryan Hamilton, Jacob Winberry, Sara Matthews, William Sikes, Alyson Stortz, Kylee Stortz, Parker Stortz, Lisa Bilbrey, John Bilbrey III, Billy Bilbrey, Brandy Garcia, Dewight Bilbrey, Heaven Sanford, Brantley Austin, Jed Winberry, Deborah Bilbrey, and Jackie Bilbrey; great-grandchild, Altion Matthews Jr.; brothers, Frank Winberry, Doyle Winberry, and Ronald Winberry; sisters, Glena Thurman, Audrey Usery, and Margaret Winberry; brothers-in-law, Charles Croney and Tony Vaughn; sister-in-law, Betty Pickens and husband Todd; and his special friend and partner in crime, Peanut. A special thank you to all the nurses and caretakers at Journey Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and support you have shown our family during our time of need.

Harold will be deeply missed by his family, friends, community, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Visitation was held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 6:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Bro. Jerry Montgomery ministered to the family. Lori Montgomery read the obituary. Special song was provided by grandson, Parker Stortz.
