Harry Everett Shearrer, 83, of Patterson, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Patterson, MO, February 6, 1940, to parents Bufford Everett and Alice Imogene (Gustin) Shearrer.
Harry was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He married Barbara Bailey, November 6, 1969, and they were blessed with three children. He graduated from Clearwater High School in May of 1960. Harry was drafted by the United States Army in 1963 and served proudly as a Field Communications crewman. He also was awarded the sharpshooter badge. Harry was honorably discharged in 1965. He worked for Terminal Railroad Association in St. Louis as a switchman for forty-two years. Harry enjoyed hunting, Thursday night horseshoes, gardening, and the outdoors. Harry loved giving people tours of his hometown and surrounding area showing and explaining its history. He also just enjoyed riding around the countryside.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years.
Harry is survived by his children: Wesley Shearrer and wife Denise of Dupo, IL, Carol Shearrer of Patterson, MO, and Brenna Hausmann and husband Brian of Dupo, IL; grandchildren: Corey Shearrer, James Pyle and wife Tabitha, Shelby LaPointe and husband Cody, Hailey Gloeckner and husband Joseph, Sarah Shearrer, Lacie Hausmann and Logan Hausmann; and nine great-grandchildren; brother: Ralph Shearrer and wife Marsha of St. James; sisters: Norma Richards of Wyoming, Nelda Pouge and husband James of Alabama; his very lovable and loyal companion and best friend, his dog Lady. Harry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 18, 2023, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Callum Reavey ministered to the family. Cody LaPointe, Brian Hausmann, Corey Shearrer, James Pyle, Joseph Gloeckner, Logan Hausmann, and Evan Conway served as pallbearers. Burial followed at Patterson Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 281 of Piedmont.
