Hilbert "Bud" J. Middleton

Hilbert "Bud" James Middleton, 96, of Vulcan, MO, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Vulcan, January 24, 1928, to parents Gilbert and Edna (Talley) Middleton.

Bud was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. As he grew up, he attended the Vulcan school. In his early years, he logged with his dad. Bud worked at Ford Motor Company in St. Louis then moved back home. He started logging, sawmilling, and farming. Bud partnered with his brother George in the sawmill for years, then with his sons Aaron and Michael until he retired. Bud’s favorite thing to do was to mow hay, which he did in June of this year. Bud married Charlotte Lenore Patterson on June 25, 1949, and they were blessed with eight children. He showed Christ to his family by example. He was so proud of them and loved them dearly. He was a member of the deacon ministry at Vulcan Assembly of God for many years and instrumental in helping build the new church in 1985.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years; sons: Denny, and Aaron Middleton; daughter: Jeannie Middleton; great-granddaughter: Shelby Tutterrow; brothers: George, Robert and Bid Middleton; sisters: Lucille Shepherd, Dorothy Freeman, June Reed, Loretta Patterson, and Nina Thompson; son-in-law: Jimmie Middleton.

Bud is survived by his children: Michael Middleton and wife Florie of Vulcan, Sharon Middleton of Vulcan, Marsha Tutterrow and husband Gene of Sullivan, Lorinda "Susie" Dement and husband Terry of Vulcan, Mary Dement and husband Jim of Ellington; daughter-in-law: Roberta Middleton of Vulcan; grandchildren: Kimberly Howe and husband Dave, Tim Middleton and wife Joy, Mitchell Middleton, Stacy Tutterrow and wife Dana, Leslie Jones and husband Clay, Rachel Gore and husband Lance, Hannah Allen and husband Shane, Tara Patnaude and husband Adam, Naman Dement and wife Amanda, Lorinda Smith and husband Hunter, Caleb Dement and wife Whitney, Chad Middleton and wife Rebekah, Drew Middleton, Jared Middleton and wife Lindsay, Savannah Forshee and husband Ray, Levi Middleton and wife Whitney, Mikayla Kelley and husband Korey; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Loyd Middleton and wife Rebecca of Halfway, Delmar Middleton and wife Lynn of Vulcan; brothers-in-law: Arley Thompson, Robert Patterson and wife Barbara, Gary Patterson and wife Maxine; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Middleton, Patsy Stevenson; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Vulcan Assembly of God Church. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 12, 2024, also at Vulcan Assembly of God Church. Pastor Daniel Tidmore and Pastor Loyd Middleton ministered to the family. Congregational songs were led by Terry Dement. Naman, Isaiah, Amanda and Micah Dement provided special music. Tim Middleton, Stacy Tutterrow, Mitchell Middleton, Naman Dement, Caleb Dement, Levi Middleton, Chad Middleton, and Drew Middleton served as pallbearers.
