James E. Cunningham, 93, of Des Arc, MO, passed away August 24, 2020, at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington. He was born in Tuckerman, AR, July 3, 1927, to parents Thomas and Bertha (Rogers) Cunningham.
James was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married Edna Gunter on November 1, 1947, and to this union two children were born. James was in the United States Army and served in Germany during the Korean conflict. When he returned home, he worked at Procter and Gamble as an electrician for twenty-seven years, but his passion was his farm. After retiring, he worked his farm, cow/calf operation, for over thirty-years. James enjoyed spending time with his family, and he was a good provider.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-eight years; brothers: Bill Cunningham, Henry Lee Russell; sister, Madge Hightower.
James is survived by his children: Ron Cunningham and wife Mary of Ballwin, Nancy Lumbar and husband Frank of Defiance; grandchildren: Justin Cunningham and wife Genevieve, Jacob Cunningham, Joseph Cunningham, Matthew Hart and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren: Sage, Clara, Mason and Carson Hart. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Beulah Baptist Church, Brunot, MO. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also at Beulah Baptist Church. Pastor Johnny Clements ministered to the family. Rob Cunningham, Justin Cunningham, Jacob Cunningham, Joseph Cunningham, Matthew Cunnungham, and Brian Ellis served as pallbearers.
