James W. Davis, 84, of Coldwater, MO, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at his residence. James was born August 11, 1937, at Silva, MO, to parents William Albert and Mary Paulina (Page) Davis. James attended and graduated from Greenville High School and on May 1, 1959, he was united in marriage to Juanita Adams and to this union two children were born.
James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a great provider and a good example for his family. He was saved at a young age and was active at Bethesda General Baptist Church in Imperial, MO. James served the church as a Sunday school teacher and church trustee. He also enjoyed playing Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music with his guitar. James and his son, Michael, played the guitar for the Gabe Wallace family playing gospel music. He had worked at American Can Company in St. Louis for over thirty years. When returning home to the country during retirement years he quickly got back to hunting and fishing. Turkey hunting was a true passion to him. James also was active at New Hope General Baptist Church where he served as a trustee.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita; children: Michael Davis and wife Tina of Cedar Rapids, IA and Rocky Davis and wife Karen of Millersville, MO; grandchildren: Ben Davis, Josh Davis, Emily Davis, Katie Carty and Cody Davis; great-grandchildren: Brogan Carty, Kagan Carty and Blaze Young; brothers: Charles “Bud” Davis and wife Shelba of Jackson, Raymond Davis and wife Marilyn of Imperial, Eddie Davis and wife Carol of Patterson, David Davis and wife Kathy of Silva; sister: Mary Edwards of Silva. James will be loved and missed by family and friends.
Visitation was held at 9:00 am, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at New Hope General Baptist Church in Silva, MO. Funeral service followed at 11:00 am, also at New Hope General Baptist Church in Silva, MO. Bro. Dan Ross and Bro. Johnny Gipson ministered to the family. Cody Davis, Ben Davis, David Davis, Mike Allen, Chris Allen, and Raymond Davis served as pallbearers.
