James Richard Boyer

James “Richard” Boyer, 86, of Ellisnore, MO, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Taskee, MO, May 7, 1937, to parents James W. and Maudie Adaline (Durrow) Boyer.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He worked hard for his family. He worked for the Wayne County Road and Bridge Department for many years. Richard married Wilma Hillis and they were blessed with three children. After Wilma’s passing, he married Mildred “Louise” Aldridge. Richard was a Christian of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Ellsinore Community Pentecost Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his 4-wheeler. Most of all, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and his church family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma; daughter-in-law: Bonnie Boyer; brother: George Boyer; sisters: Zora Fred, Zella Bilbrey and three infant sisters.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years; children: Rick Boyer of Springfield, Lewis Boyer and wife Janet of Williamsville, Gary Boyer and wife Nina of Williamsville; stepchildren he considered his own: Kenny Wood and wife Audrey of Cuba, Kevin Wood and wife Angie of Sullivan, Carolyn Walker and husband Wade of Lebanon, TN; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; sister: Bonnie Greenwall of Poplar Bluff; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard will be greatly missed.

Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 29, 2024, also in the Williamsville Chapel. Pastor James Huffman ministered to the family. Music was provided by vocalist and pianist, Joyce Huffman, and vocalist and guitarist, Wayne Denver. Rick Boyer, Dustin Boyer, Kenny Wood, Paul Durrow, Bob Durrow, and Joey Greenwall served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Williamsville.
