James Medford Upchurch, 72, of Greenville, MO, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
James, known to all as "Jim," was born on October 6, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, MO, to Medford and Betty (Cook) Upchurch. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Jim’s life was defined by love, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Jim married Lois Hopkins on February 14, 2013, and they spent their time building a life filled with love, adventure, and deep mutual respect. His family was always his greatest treasure, and he took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Throughout his career, Jim was well-known for his mechanical expertise. He worked for many years at a local rock quarry, where his skillful hands could fix or build anything. Outside of work, he was a passionate farmer and enjoyed raising cattle. His remarkable work ethic and patient demeanor earned him the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him. Jim had a quiet strength and an incredible ability to make everything around him better—whether through a helping hand or a wise word.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Robert Upchurch.
Jim is survived by his loving wife: daughters: Tina Lancaster and husband Mike, and Jennifer Weaver; grandchildren: Makenzie Lancaster and Jack Lancaster; great-granddaughters: Ophelia and Phoebe Lancaster; stepchildren: Melissa Domangue and Todd Hopkins; step-grandchildren: Tracen and Peyton Hopkins, Christian, Hunter, and Spencer Domangue; brothers Ed, Sam, and Dan Upchurch; sisters: Janet Jones and Doris Murray.
Jim's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on through his family and all who knew him. He will be missed beyond words, but his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
