Jerry Glen Brooks, 61, of Patterson, MO, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Conway, AR, April 13, 1963, to parents Jones and Donna Kay Brooks.
Jerry was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He grew up in Champaign/Urbana, IL, and attended high school there. On September 17, 2009, Jerry married Donna Denise Jenkins, and the two shared a loving partnership full of cherished memories.
Jerry was a man of faith and was an active member of Hamtown Church near Poplar Bluff. He had a long career dedicated to helping others, working as a Developmental Assistant for the State of Missouri and caring for those with disabilities for over fifteen years through Southeast Missouri Residential Services (SEMORES). He also drove a bus for Three Rivers Travel, which was owned by his father. It was a job that allowed him to connect with many people and share his kind-hearted nature.
Known for his warmth and easygoing personality, Jerry had a number of favorite catchphrases that reflected his approachable, conversational style: “Hey, how’s it going?” “Whatcha doing?” “Where you at?” and “I’ll be there in 30 seconds.” Jerry loved to talk and enjoyed driving, always eager to engage with people and spread cheer. His generosity knew no bounds, and his infectious smile brightened the lives of everyone around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of fifteen years; stepchildren: Michael Taylor and wife Ashley of Poplar Bluff, William Robinson of Piedmont, and Elizabeth Hysmith and husband Dusty of Three Way, TN; grandchild, Victoria; brothers: John Brooks of Chattanooga, TN, Jeff Brooks and wife JC of Huntsville, AL; niece, Lilly Jackson and husband Chirs of East Ridge, TN; and many close friends who will remember him fondly.
Jerry’s generous spirit and love for others will never be forgotten. His passing leaves a gap in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and joy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be greatly missed but forever remembered for his unconditional love and the warmth he gave to all with his smile. He was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed.
