Jerry Wayne Durr

Jerry Wayne Durr of Piedmont, MO, passed away November 7, 2020, in Waycross, GA. He was born December 10, 1947, in Steele, MO, to the late James Earl Durr and Tommy Lee (Lawhorn) Durr.

He was united in marriage to Claudette Patricia Durr, October 11, 1968, in Greenville, and to this union one child was born. He received his GED from Poplar Bluff High School and proceeded to attain a business management, electronics degree from Three Rivers College. 

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, who passed away March 3, 2014, and siblings, Frances Morgan, Soney Durr and James Durr.

Jerry is survived by his son, Douglas Durr, seven grandchildren: Tre Durr, Tevan Durr, Colten Denby, Tyler Durr, Matthew Durr, Heather Boland and Justin Smith: ten great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard Durr, and Denny Durr; sisters: Doris Berger, Cheryl Durr, Debbie Heath and sister in laws Kathy Dorn and Diebbie Seymour; and many nieces and nephews that thought the world of him. 

Jerry worked for Nixdorf Chain Co for fifteen-years, was an OTR Truck Driver for seven years, and was Father and Son partner in the Rural Cable Store from which he retired. Jerry attended Rings Creek Church in Patterson and was a member of the Piedmont Masonic Lodge 526 AF and AM for twenty-five years. 

Jerry loved his family, faith, fishing, grandkids, and helping people!

A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
