Obituary

Jessie Baron Crutchfield, 67, of Wappapello MO, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in his wife’s loving arms, surrounded by his children and grandchildren at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis MO. He was born in Gideon MO, on September 18, 1955, to parents James and Ota Crutchfield.

Jessie was a loving and devoted husband, father, paw paw, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. He was a loving husband to the love of his life, best friend, and soulmate, Polly Price for over forty-six years. They were blessed with three wonderful children and one special bonus daughter. Jessie was of the Baptist faith and considered Kime Church his home. He was a Wayne County country boy through and through and could often be found hunting, fishing, and trading. Jessie never met a stranger and always found a way to make everyone around him laugh. Jessie found immense joy in being an uncle and convincing his nieces and nephews to ignore their parents and have another piece of cake, jump on the bed, and run in the house. Be it on the lake, in his jeep, or rides on the “side side”, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Jessie was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic by trade, but his self-proclaimed life purpose was “to take care of others.” Jessie took care of so many people every single day. In the end, he was able to be an organ donor which has been a huge comfort to his wife and children. Jessie will continue to help people and save multiple lives for many years to come. His life story and legacy are not yet over.

In addition to his parents, Jessie is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Angel Crutchfield; brothers A.C., Elmer, Melvin, and Wayne Crutchfield; sisters Laura Gumpert, Peggy Crutchfield, and Varble Parsons.

Jessie is survived by his loving and devoted wife Polly Crutchfield; children: son Jay Crutchfield (Sheryl), daughter Amber Tarasyuk (Zoltan), and bonus daughter April Crutchfield; Grandchildren London Tarasyuk, Michelle Brooks (Nick), Taras Tarasyuk, and Anastasiya Tarasyuk; great-grandchildren Grayson Shubert, Shiloh Tarasyuk, and Sophia Brooks; siblings Jimmy Crutchfield (Shirley), Tommy Crutchfield (Loretta), Raymond Crutchfield (Dee), and Leota McFall; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Our dearest Jessie will be missed greatly by his family, friends, community, and especially his Sugar.
