JoAnn Gooch Obituary

JoAnn V. Gooch, 94, of Mill Spring, MO, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021, at her residence. She was born in St. Louis, MO, March 23, 1927, to parents Leo and Vita (Bono) DeSimone.

JoAnn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married William “Bill” Edward Gooch and to this union two daughters were born. JoAnn was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church in Williamsville. She attended business college, earning an associate degree in business; and worked as a secretary until she married. She then became a Navy wife and traveled for over twenty years. JoAnn was an avid bowler in her younger days. She stayed active volunteering at the Catholic Outreach Center. She also volunteered at the Wayne County Nutrition Center in Williamsville until she was ninety-three. JoAnn enjoyed helping people and loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Bill; brother: Charles Michael DeSimone.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters: Nina Boyer and husband Gary of Mill Spring, Victoria Ann Gooch-Wiese of Houston, TX; Lewis Boyer of Greenville, and Tamara Sanders of Williamsville; grandchildren: Christopher Gooch and wife Karen of Arnold, Cassandra Trotter and husband Brad of Doniphan, Suzin Wiese of Spring, TX; great-grandchildren: Connor Gooch, Brennan Trotter, Brylie Trotter, Adam Sanders, Virginia Boyer, Jason Wiese, Kassandra Wiese; sister: Margret Mary Schrader of Denver, CO. JoAnn will be greatly missed.

A memorial mass was held at 11:30 am, Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Williamsville. Father Dan Hirtz ministered to the family. Music was provided by Mason German. A luncheon was held at 12:30 pm, at the Wayne County Nutrition Center also in Williamsville. Burial followed at 2:00 pm in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Piedmont.
