Joe Bradford Obituary

Joe L. Bradford, 93, of Silva, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born in Holland, MO, February 24, 1932, to parents Ezra "Edd" and Sarah Elizabeth (White) Bradford.

Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and service to his community. He married Wilma "Ruth" (Jaco) Dees, October 12, 1998, and she precedes him in death. Joe’s love for Ruth was evident in the way he spoke of her.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joe served during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that he spoke of with pride and respect. He spent his professional life as the owner and operator of Bradford Pest Control. Joe spent over sixty years serving Wayne County and the surrounding areas. Joe continued to work well into his early nineties, retiring at the age of ninety-two. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family.

Joe had a deep love for horses and spent many enjoyable hours on trail rides, often venturing out for a week at a time. His passion for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family. Joe was a warm, kind, and caring man who was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a true southern gentleman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of twenty-five years; and brothers: L. B., James, Clifton "Doody", and Pat Bradford.

Joe is survived by his children: Ricky Bradford of San Diego, CA, and Sheila Conlan and husband Patrick of Tallahassee, FL; stepchildren: David Newcom, Diane Vancour, and Donna Sundefur; grandchildren: Ryan Conlan and wife Brooke, Joey Conlan, Christie Speight and husband Andrew, Kyle Conlan and wife Maki, Justin Bradford, and Danielle Bradford; great-grandchildren: Lily Pierce, Presley Conlan, Drew Speight, Palmer Conlan, and Remy Conlan; brother: Roy "Chuck" Bradford of Caruthersville; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family and friends find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the many lives he touched with his kindness, work ethic, and love. Joe’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, and he will be remembered for his quiet strength, humor, and deep love for those closest to him.
