Kenneth “Kenny” M. Schoelhamer of Festus, MO, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 28, 1940, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Karl and Mary (Tyndyk) Schoelhamer.
Kenny served three years in the United States. Army, spending most of that time in Germany. He was present on the day John F. Kennedy gave his speech in 1963 in West Berlin. After the Army, he came back to Missouri where he worked for McDonnell Douglas and eventually Ford Motor Company; where he retired as a supervisor for over thirty years.
On October 31, 1964, he marred his wife of almost sixty years, Dorothy Rehkop. They had three children together: Mike, Michelle and Matt. Kenny loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time fishing with his sister, Thresa and husband Dave. Kenny also loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Mizzou Tigers.
He is preceded in death by his parents Karl and Mary, his wife Dorothy; sisters: Thresa Lunsford, Janet Sanders, and Shirley Lawson; brothers: Michael Schoelhamer, and Chris Schoelhamer; grandchildren: Kyle Schoelhamer, and Jessica Randolph.
Kenny is survived by his children: Mike Schoelhamer and wife Patty of Silva, Michelle Randolph of Cape Girardeau, and Matt Schoelhamer of Fredericktown; sisters: Joyce Kitchell of DeSoto, Mary Sansoucie and husband Steve of Old Mines; grandchildren: Corey Schoelhamer of O’Fallon, MO, Trevor Schoelhamer of Fenton, and Stephanie Randolph of Cape Girardeau; six great-grandchildren, his beloved cat Jolee; many nieces, nephews, and special friends who also helped take care of Kenny, Melanie and Dave.
Kenny will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 am, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, with full military honors. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
