Larry Joe Wright

Larry Joe Wright, 79, of Jackson MO, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Lesterville, MO, on May 21, 1943, to parents Christopher and Bessie (Adams) Wright.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish, and cutting wood. He had a lot of friends from Wayne and Cape Counties. Larry spent many years hauling freight back and forth in St. Louis for Gateway Transportation and a delivery driver for Empire Gas. He also worked for Clearwater R-1 for twelve years as a custodian.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Larry "Joey" Wright Jr. on October 22, 1999; brothers: Roy and Guy Wright; sister: Norma King; nephew: Dennis King; niece: Billie.

Larry is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Lucy Wright; grandchildren: Jake Wright and wife Addie of Fort Campbell, KY, Shane Wright of Cape Girardeau, MO; nephew: Roger Wright; nieces: Rosemary Kmiecik, Barb Lamb, and Sue Young. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation was held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. A second visitation was held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 3:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor James Gray ministered to the family. Tim Sheets, Hunter Sheets, Cole Sheets, Marvin Clyburn, Travis Clyburn, and Troy Byran served as pallbearers. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery in Des Arc, MO.
