Linda Regina (King) Allen

Linda Regina Allen, 69, of Des Arc, MO, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born in St. Louis, MO, June 29, 1954, to parents Boyd “Sonny” B. King and Effie E. (Driskill) Smith.

Linda was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, loving grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married the love of her life and best friend, Lonnie D. Allen, on December 1, 1973, and they were blessed with three wonderful daughters. Linda was an overnight supervisor at Kmart in High Ridge, MO, for twenty-one years.  After she retired from Kmart, she worked in the cafeteria at Windsor Middle School for twelve years before moving to Des Arc, and working in the cafeteria at Clearwater Elementary for fifteen years. Linda was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church in Des Arc. She served as Sunday School Teacher Assistant and helped with all the dinners prepared for the church. Linda was Director of Bible School and active in church camp.

Linda was an avid crafter. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and helping with the crafts at church and Bible school. She enjoyed water skiing and swimming. Linda had a love for sports. She was a softball coach for several years and played softball on a women’s league with her daughter, Kelly. In addition to bowling in several bowling leagues, Linda was also on the Piedmont USBC Association board, President on Monday night doubles league, and she was Sargent of Arms on Thursday night league. Linda was also an umpire and worked closely with Lonnie calling several games. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and was quick to call their games as well, from her favorite chair at home.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Dennis King.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of fifty years; daughters: Kelly Whitener and husband Derek of Imperial, Danielle Cummings and husband Andrew of Arnold, Carrie Allen and fiancé Rob of Arnold; grandchildren: Travis Allen, Joey Boyer, Drew Whitener, Luke Whitener, Mikeal Allen, Annabelle Allen; brothers: Frank King and wife Elizabeth of Des Arc, Tony Smith of Moorehouse, Gary Smith and wife Kim of Essex; sisters: Brenda Parker and husband Gene of Des Arc, Kathy King of St. Louis. Linda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.

Visitation was held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Beulah Baptist Church, Des Arc, MO. A memorial service followed at 5:00 pm, also at Beulah Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Bridges ministered to the family. Bro. Johnny Clements gave a heartfelt eulogy. Burial was in Beulah Baptist Cemetery, Des Arc, MO.
