Linda Fay Byrd, 73, of Dexter, formerly of the Greenville area, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Crowley Ridge Nursing Home, Dexter, MO. Linda was born in Louisville, KY, on March 16, 1950, to parents Ural and Virgia Weston Holmes.
Linda grew up in Kentucky until about eight years old, when the family moved to Greenville. She graduated from Greenville High School. Linda was united in marriage to Raymond Lynn Green and to this union two children were born. Linda was known for her personality. She was a woman that could make you laugh and was known to flip the script when you weren’t looking. Once when sister Janie was visiting the nursing home where she resided, Janie discovered her sister was not in her long-time room. When Janie found her, she had moved to the Alzheimer’s unit. When asked about it, Linda said she just needed a change in scenery. A natural storyteller, she was able to keep family and friends entertained. In her younger years she enjoyed time outdoors, fishing, camping, and traveling. Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
She leaves behind two sons: Roger Lynn Green and wife Jonna or Fort Walton Beach, Fl and Roy Green of Greenville, MO; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother: William “Frank” Holmes of Sellersburg, IN; sister: Janie McAtte of Greenville; two step-children: Timmy Byrd and wife Tina of Crossville, TN and Garrett Byrd and wife Missy of Marshton, MO. Linda will be missed by family and friends who knew her as "Linda Lou."
